There’s more good news for Kirkley and Lowestoft, as the brand-new Jubilee Parade development has officially opened on the seafront, just in time for the summer season.
Located alongside the popular Eastern Edge beach huts, this impressive new development features a stunning first-floor restaurant space. While the restaurant has not yet opened, discussions are currently underway with prospective operators, so hopefully it won’t be long before visitors can enjoy another fantastic dining destination overlooking the sea.
At promenade level, several concession units have been created, three of which are already welcoming customers.
One of these is the much-loved Sunrise at Marty Boys, formerly known as Sunrise at Zac’s Café, which has been serving visitors to South Beach for more than 14 years. Renowned for its warm welcome, delicious food and dog-friendly atmosphere, it has become a firm favourite with both locals and visitors alike.
Another unit is home to Peak Open Water Sports, offering a wide range of supervised open water activities led by fully qualified instructors, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for participants of all abilities.
Completing the trio is NuGlow Healthy Food & Smoothies Café, serving a selection of fresh, nutritious meals, snacks and smoothies.

The development also includes modern public toilets, a Changing Places facility and an outdoor shower, allowing beachgoers to rinse off the sand before heading home. These thoughtful additions will help make the seafront more comfortable, convenient and accessible for everyone.
One of the most eagerly anticipated features is the new lift, which will connect the Upper Esplanade with the Lower Promenade, making access much easier for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility and families with pushchairs. The lift is not quite ready to come into service, and a small amount of surrounding groundwork is still being completed, but these final finishing touches are expected to be finished soon.
The project has been led by East Suffolk Council, designed by architects Chaplin Farrant and constructed by PJ Spillings. It has been made possible through £4.3 million of funding from HM Government’s Levelling Up Fund, together with a further £1.9 million investment from East Suffolk Council.
The official opening was carried out by Councillor Caroline Topping, Leader of East Suffolk Council, marking another important milestone in the continued investment and regeneration of Lowestoft’s seafront.
It is wonderful to see continued investment in this part of our coastline, creating facilities that will benefit both local residents and visitors for years to come. As the remaining work is completed over the coming weeks, Jubilee Parade looks set to become another popular destination on South Beach and a valuable addition to everything Kirkley and Lowestoft have to offer.
